Our Fees

Most of our clients do not have the money to pay hourly fees to lawyers. We work only on contingency fees. A contingency fee shifts the risk of a bad result to us, so we only get paid if we make a recovery for you. Your first consultation with us is free and you will have no obligation to sign a contract until we both decide to proceed with your case.

History

Christopher T. Hurley founded Hurley McKenna & Mertz, P.C. in 1991. Mr. Hurley received his early training at Baker & McKenzie, the largest law firm in the world, where he worked with many of the best known and respected trial lawyers in the country representing major hospitals, corporations, and insurance companies. Mr. Hurley has been a trial lawyer since 1984 and is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and the International College of Trial Lawyers.  He is a member of  the American Board of Trial Advocates.  He also is listed as a leading lawyer in Illinois. Mr. Hurley serves as an adjunct professor of law at Northwestern University where he teaches trial practice. He speaks frequently to various bar groups on various topics related to personal injury law and trial practice. Mr. Hurley has obtained numerous multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements for his clients throughout Illinois and nationally.
