Defamation

Defamation is a wrongful act wherein a person makes statements which are untrue and harmful to the reputation of another.  Statements of opinion are usually not actionable.  But statements of fact, which are false, may constitute defamation. If repetition of false statements causes harm to the reputation of another then the injured person may be entitled to financial compensation for his or her injury.

If you feel that someone has made false statements about you and it has caused you harm you may have a case for defamation.  If you have questions call Hurley McKenna & Mertz, P.C. at 312-553-4900 for a free consultation.
