Hurley McKenna & Mertz's work in the $12 million settlement with Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago was among the Top 20 Verdicts and Settlements in 2006, published by Crain's Chicago Business.  Christopher Hurley and Michael Mertz handled the case, which alleged Catholic Charities placed three children in the care of an unqualified foster parent, failed to properly investigate the foster home, and did not conduct adequate visits.
