Who is Broadspire?
According to the company’s website, Broadspire is a, “third-party administrator to employers and insurance companies….that offers a broad array of customized claim and management services designed to increase employee productivity and contain costs.”
DePuy hired Broadspire to manage the recent high volume of claims regarding the recalled Metal-on-Metal hip implants. Through the process of investigating the claim, Broadspire may seek authorizations to obtain a patient’s medical records. DePuy may use these records to argue that the hip implant failed due to a patient’s previous medical conditions, or physician negligence, rather than the faulty design of the DePuy hip implant.
Broadspire may offer to cover a patient’s out of pocket costs for medical treatment to settle a claim. In doing so, Broadspire saves Johnson & Johnson from the process of litigation saving the company time and money.
The attorneys of Hurley McKenna & Mertz, P.C., believe that persons with potential claims should NOT communicate with Broadspire, as a qualified attorney may be able to obtain a substantially larger settlement.
