Boy Scout Abuse Victims Now Have Less Than Two Months to File a Claim

Most of us have already heard that Boy Scouts of America filed for bankruptcy in February 2020, rushing victims of sexual abuse to come forward by November 16, 2020.

As with most things in life, time is moving quickly. And believe it or not, the deadline to submit a claim is now less than two months away.

Reminder for victims: It’s better to submit a claim sooner than later.

While the official bankruptcy court deadline is November 16, 2020, victims should keep in mind the time it takes to fill out and submit the proof of claims form. Law firms, like Hurley McKenna & Mertz, that are representing the many Boy Scout abuse victims will not be able to take on claims the day—or even a few days prior—to the filing deadline.

While we understand the courage it takes to come forward and relive your painful memories, we ask victims to keep urgency in mind. This could be your only chance to seek justice against the wrongdoings of the BSA—so we urge victims to file their proof of claims form sooner rather than later.

Alternatively, you risk your claim being barred forever.
