In the Bankruptcy Court, the Tort Claimants Committee (or TCC), is tasked with protecting the interests of all survivors that filed claims in the Boy Scouts Bankruptcy. To that end, the TCC negotiates with various parties, makes recommendations to survivors, and advocates in Court filings and pleadings. Christopher Hurley and Evan Smola of Hurley McKenna & Mertz, represent nearly 4,000 victims, including one victim that is a member of the TCC. Hurley McKenna & Mertz participates in all TCC calls, negotiations, and strategic decisions made on behalf of HMM clients and survivors everywhere.
The law firm of Pachulski Stang Ziehl & Jones, LLP, represents the entire TCC and, with input from the attorneys that represent victims, including HMM, guide the TCC in its strategic decisions. That firm will be hosting a Town Hall meeting on January 14, 2021 at 8:00 PM (Eastern). This Town Hall will be open only to survivors and attorneys representing survivors. The Town Hall will provide individuals with an update as to the status of the bankruptcy, the next steps moving forward, and will answer any questions sent to PSZJ in advance of the meeting. Chris and Evan will both be present at the Town Hall and we encourage you to participate, as it will provide you with a comprehensive update on the case.
To participate in the Town Hall, please pre-register here: https://pszjlaw.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_NpqcAUFiQ0qiLoTXNoRaIQ
The identities of the participants will be kept strictly confidential.
In addition to the Town Hall meeting, all parties to the bankruptcy are engaged in mediation throughout the week of January 11, 2021. This is the first attempt at mediation amongst victims, the BSA, Local Councils, Chartering Organizations, and the insurers for those entities.
